| Ficathon poll |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|06:32 pm] |
I'm going to guess from the overwhelming lack of response to my last post that either people really don'c want/care for a country ficathon OR that people are two busy enjoying their weekend. ::pout:: Some of us had to work you know, some of us don't live in the US ::double pout::
Aaaanyway, because the idea really grew on my I'm polling it, because ticky boxes are easier than comments ::hopeful look:: So come, vote, pimp so other people can vote.
You know how country music's the music of pain? Well it's not. I mean it can be but it's not always. So, as I was driving merrily along, listening to Christmas songs on my way to work (you may blame Santa Got Lost in Texas for this one folks) I thought, why not have a ficathon like so: Two teams=> team angst for the pain filled songs and team tequila for the fun filled ones. Everyone would get to chose which team they preferred (though the mod might assign them to the other one to keep the numbers even) and get a song to inspire them. It wouldn't be song fic in the sense of lyrics being part of the fic but it would be based on a song.
We're talking slash here though, right? Slashy ficathon.
Poll #1491487 Country Music Ficathon
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 4Should I organise a country music ficathon? Should it be like the games i.e. split in two teams (one for angst, one for fun) Which fandom? Would you take part? |

I've reached the stage of being sick where I go up and down. One moment I'm in full productive, happy, energetic mode, the next I want to hide under my quilt and not come out for a decade or so. ::sigh::
In one of the more energetic moments I had a ficathon thought....Country music. No, hear me out ::drags flist back::

Then I thought, Nash, I thought, are you freaking insane? You're busy! VERY busy! You can hardly keep up with reading fanfic how are you going to organise one? Then I thought, Nash, I thought you did say you wouldn't be work insane anymore and focus on non-work things like Ohhh, OH fanfiction!
Then I got stuck...I can't pick a fandom to put this in! There's Merlin and Torchwood and Doctor Who and BtVS and Supernatural and Harry Potter and those are the ones I'm reading in right now.
::blink::
No wonder I don't have time to read fanfiction...
AAAANYWAY, I can't choose a fandom...unless I make it multifandom...
It's definitely going to be a slash one. I know that much.
Oh, still voiceless, but my fingers are happily typing along. |

Tonight I realized that it was not only did some albums' artwork show up as black in the Nano viewscreen even though the artwork was correct inside the MP3s but some songs had the wrong artwork seen on the Nano, even though, again, it was correct within the MP3 file. So I Restored my Nano to factory conditions and reloaded my library. Afterward I checked a few I knew to have problems and saw the correct stuff instead. |

These Bergdorf Goodman Christmas window photos were also taken Monday. Here are some close-ups to show detail:
"Chapter 12: Potions Imbibed and Perspectives Re-Arranged": Truly the ultimate dollhouse, with dolls and rooms and spiral staircases in many sizes. Those are spikes along the back edge of the mannequin's leg. ( photos )
"Chapter 22: Illogical Lexicons and Convivial Characters": How many details from Alice in Wonderland can you notice in this window? I didn't get a chance to see all the things typed on the paper in the typewriter, but I did notice "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" and the bit about believing six impossible things before breakfast. The texture on the dog and giant pen comes from lines of handwriting and on the rose branches from type-print. ( photos )
"Chapter 24: Improbable Lodging and Feline Mischief": I think Bergdorf used that metallic border on one of last year's Christmas windows, The Seasons: Winter. I like the Victorian stationary effect they superimposed on the window over it. That's some treehouse too. ( photo ) |

Let me tell you how much I am not looking forward to tomorrow:
thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much. I'd make it bigger, but then I'd kill people's layouts so I figured I'd stop there.
Tomorrow begins the annual month and a half of too much food I really shouldn't eat but will, because I have no will power, and dealing with my family. It is tricky enough to deal with myself, my parents, and my brother. Add traveling across the state and beyond and it turns into everybody-sulks-and/or-yells territory, made only slightly more complicated because of my mother's family.
This year we get to see my father's too. I miss them. I'd like to see them, theoretically. In actuality, I want them to stay in their own self absorbed little worlds because then they don't infect mine.
I could just carol with emotion. To Rammstein.
And the cafe in my building is closed today which means no bagel. My hips are thankful, but I was looking forward to it.
The only good news is that my library emailed me this morning to let me know that The Gathering Storm is ready for me to pick up! Things to read while hiding from people and pretending they aren't saying nice things that are actually very very mean. I just need to find an As The Wheel Turns guide. It's been a while since I read the last ten books.
eta - OH MY GOD HOUSE! WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THERE WAS A TOMLIN REFERENCE!!!! My brother calls Tomlin Omar Epps, so. Bweeeee! And stargate! Fannish hive mind FAIL! |
